Pitaya Smoothie Bowl (gf + vegan)


Smoothies are my absolute favorite breakfast during the summer (and during the winter, tbh). I always fall into the routine of making my usual mixed berry smoothie, but I decided to switch it up for this one. The first time I saw a pitaya bowl, I was on spring break in L.A. with some of my best friends from college. The whole acai/pitaya bowl craze had just swept through, and we were totally obsessed.

Today we are equally as obsessed and we still talk about those bowls we got on vacay!When I saw frozen pitaya in the grocery store the other day, I had to buy it and experiment with my smoothie game. Everyone needs to mix it up sometimes, am I right?

The Secret GF


½ cup frozen pitaya (aka dragon fruit) chunks

½ cup frozen mixed berries

½ banana, frozen

1 medjool date

1 tbsp chia seeds

½ cup unsweetened almond milk

Toppings: peanut/almond butter, granola, coconut, cacao nibs, banana slices


  1. Place all ingredients (except toppings) in a blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Pour (use a spoon to help!) into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings!
